WORDKRAFTER MUSINGS: “DOGGONE”
The Associated Press posted a report about a shooting in Tennessee today, November 8th , 2020 . Reading through the news item, I found a few things note-worthy about this event:
1) Shootings are rampart in the World and even more so in the USA .
2) This shooting left 8 people wounded
3) The shootings occurred over an argument
What was uncommon was that the argument that led to the shooting started over a Dog!
Here is the sequence of events in ‘word-motion’: DOG....ARGUMENT....GUN DRAWN...SHOOTING OCCURRED......8 PEOPLE WOUNDED
Ruminating on the story and in a lighter mood, I conjectured that these kinds of events are probably the sources of some cuss words in profuse use today!
'Dog Gun' sounds the same as ‘Doggone’ , an English word used as an adjective, adverb and a verb(Merriam-Webster)
This Associated Press article in reality tells us that virtually anything can spark unnecessary violence. DOG GUN! In these pandemic times, I pray that everyone remains calm and takea deep Breath.
